VEX Robotics Workshop

VEX Robotics is about constructing and testing educational robotics for everyone. Offaly County Council is one of the main drivers of VEX Robotics in Ireland, and Seanie has been fortunate to collaborate with them from time to time. Whether it is part of the VEX IQ Schools Competition, or hosting a workshop of his own, Seanie enjoys making, testing, dismantling and remaking robots with these unique VEX kits.

In a VEX Robotics Workshop, Seanie supplies kits through Offaly County Council that come with all the parts needed, and offers a twist to the style of construction and goals: the VEX IQ Mars Explorer Base.

VEX IQ Mars Explorer Base

Children use the kits for a VEX Clawbot to make their own modifications to try and achive the goal of collecting Martian soil samples in sealed bottles and deliver them to a collection point. But it's not as straight forward as you might think! Our Mars scientists must navigate their VEX rover remotely by watching them on a television screen in another room! This lets them work and manipulate their rover just like a real NASA rover scientist.
